Camping Activities


Pack 648 participates in four campouts each year. Camping is not a required activity, but highly recommended. 


1) Winter Family Campout- The fall family campout is open to all registered scouts and their families. Arriving on a Friday evening and checking out on Sunday morning, participants take part in a wide range of scouting-related activities depending on the location.  The 2024 winter family campout is tentatively scheduled for Dec 13-15 at Agua Caliente. 


2) Webelo's Woods- Webelo's Woods is held by the San Diego Imperial Council at Mataguay Scout Ranch, located in Santa Ysabel, CA. The purpose of this event is to provide Webelos scouts who plan to bridge into Boy Scouts the opportunity to meet local troops. 

 

3) Winter Day Camp- The winter day camp is a day of scouting-related activities geared toward aiding the scouts in their advancements. Held at Camp Balboa, the day camp is a fun opportunity to learn new things and make new friends. This is also an opportunity for scouts to earn their BB gun and archery belt loops and pins.


4) Spring Family Campout- The spring family campout is open to all registered scouts and their families. Arriving on a Friday evening and checking out on Sunday morning, participants take part in a wide range of scouting-related activities. The location for this event is rotated between various San Diego campgrounds and typically includes activities such a fishing, hiking, astronomy, sports, and much more depending on the location.
